CHANGE IN CALENDAR: The WWSU admin team looked at this year's school calendar, with an eye towards "finding" some student days in order to make up for the 4 lost days due to Irene. Currently our last day of school is slated for June 14, and that would move to June 20th with the Irene days. Tack on snow days, and we could be in school late into June. For this reason, Friday, November 11th, which was scheduled to be a non-student day for parent conferences, will now be a student day. We will do parent conferences in the afternoons and evenings of Monday, Nov 21 and Tues, Nov 22, as we have done in the past.
Why AlertNow? We are trialing the AlertNow system this year for home e-mails of all sorts, because the AlertNow system communicates with PowerSchool and thus provides the most correct, current, and updated e-mail lists. In the past, we have had to build these e-mail groups by hand, which is both time consuming and open to human error. For school delays, cancellations, etc, we will be coupling the e-mail with a voicemail, which we hope will separate the "announcement-type" messages from bigger themes. We will decide at the end of the year whether to keep going with AlertNow as our system for e-mails in the future.

Attention all spellers! There will be a spelling bee this Thursday for all 5th and 6th grade students who are interested in the 5/6 spelling team. This is your chance to compete against other spellers in the Washington West School District! The bee is from 12 :35 - 1:00. If you are in band or chorus, you may still attend, and then return to band or chorus after the bee. See Mrs. Williams for more details.
