Want a chance to volunteer at CBMS?  Two great opportunities:
  • The Trish Feld Library is looking for volunteers who would be interested in shelving books.  The time commitment is up to you. The library is open 7:30 - 3:00 so anytime Monday - Friday would be a tremendous help!  Contact Jennifer Hill jhill@wdsdvt.net 244-6100 ext.244

Due to the current lack of available bus drivers, the Bolton Ski Program will not be happening this year.

X-Country Skiing will be happening this Thursday, with a bit of help from Mother Nature.  Skiers must have returned their pink health forms in order to participate. Students should come to school with warm clothes, hats, mittens, etc and a snack, and must be picked up at TBPS at 5:15.
Because the bus is very full it would be helpful if we know which kids will not be skiing each week.  Parents- please email coordinator Alex Houston by Tuesday if your child will not be participating on any given week- ahouston@wdsdvt.net

Box Tops- we love 'em!  Thanks for clipping and sending into the CBMS office.

Tonight!  COMMUNITY INVITED TO JOIN LONG-TERM FLOOD RECOVERY BRAINSTORMING SESSION THURSDAY NIGHT AT TBPS

*******************

PUBLIC MEETING INCLUDES THE PREMIERE OF A VIDEO

ABOUT WATERBURY IN THE AFTERMATH OF TROPICAL STORM IRENE

The process to plan for Waterbury’s long-term recovery from Tropical Storm Irene’s destruction got underway recently and continues with another brainstorming session at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Thatcher Brook Primary School gym. The Waterbury Long-Term Community Recovery Committee partnering with the state of Vermont and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, will host a workshop where they hope many Waterbury-area residents will attend to help share ideas for rebuilding the community.

Participants will learn what long-term community recovery means while having the opportunity to voice their hopes and vision for a safer, stronger future. At the first well-attended session in late November, FEMA officials explained how Waterbury, along with Wilmington and Dover, is one of three Vermont communities chosen for special assistance from FEMA for long-term recovery planning. The goal is to host a series of community meetings to identify the highest-priority projects and ultimately create a list of efforts to pursue. FEMA staff can assist by helping target funding sources. Brainstorming has begun on needs and ideas in the areas of: housing, social needs, economic development, natural and cultural resources, municipal planning capacity, and infrastructure.

Thursday’s gathering begins at 6:45 p.m. with refreshments. Also on hand will be representatives of Mount Mansfield Media who have created a 10-minute video about the impact of flooding from Tropical Storm Irene on Waterbury and nearby areas. The presentation is sponsored by Heritage Ford in South Burlington.
Anyone needing special accommodations for the meeting may call FEMA’s Kate McCarthy-Barnett at 617-816-6351 or kate.mccarthybarnett@dhs.gov. For more information about the long-term community recovery planning process, or to provide input, contact Selectboard Chair and state Rep. Rebecca Ellis at ellisvermont@yahoo.com or 839-0515. #
