Teacher Appreciation Week: Spring is in full swing and with this comes the week we take time to appreciate all the hard work our CBMS teachers do.  Teacher Appreciation week is May 7th through May 11th.  This year we are again offering a breakfast and a pizza luncheon.  If you would like to help out with set up and clean up on either days, offer monetary donations for the pizza luncheon, or provide food, please contact Leslie Proteau at  We will need the following for the breakfast on Monday May 7th: muffins, bagels/cream cheese, egg dishes, juices, coffee, creamers, milk, cereal, paper products, bacon/sausage dishes, granola, and fruit.  On Thursday we'll need help with salads, drinks and desserts. Also, if your child wants to make a poster or card that we could help decorate the table with that would be great.  They can drop them to Em in the CBMS office. Please consider helping us out with something during this week to show your appreciation for all that the school does for your child.  Thank you!

Green Up Day 2012   As you may know, Green Up this year will be bigger and better than ever! Please know that you are needed - there's much to be done, and something for everyone. On Green Up Day, May 5. Or beforehand - whenever you have time in the next few weeks. Here's what's needed:
COLOSSAL TIRE CLEANUP - Sat. April 28 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Adults only. This is heavy lifting to gather up hundreds of tires left behind by Irene floodwaters along Rt. 2 just past Little River Road. To volunteer, email me or sign up at the ReBuild Waterbury website:
GREEN UP DAY - Sat. May 5 - Volunteers to clean up "regular" spots along streets and roads and near parks and public spaces throughout the town. Extra effort will be put into downtown cleanup of parks, trails, stream and riverbanks where floodwaters deposited trash and debris.
BEFORE GREENUP - The folks at ReBuild Waterbury are working every day but Sundays up until Green Up Day to help homeowners in downtown neighborhoods finish outside cleanup to get their properties back to "normal" and ready for spring planting and playing outside. Go to the ReBuild website to sign up to work any day on what needs doing for "Spring Clean Irene."

  1. It would be great to have help at our two planned dropoff sites on Green Up Day with water and refreshments for volunteers. Anyone want to take that on?
  2. Returnables anyone? Volunteers painstakingly pick up 5-cent returnable bottles and cans to be recycled. We need a group to take them away, hit them with a hose, and get them to the redemption center. You keep the change!
  3. Dropoff site "staff" needed from 9-4 on Green Up Day. These can be youngsters - pefect for CBMS 7th and 8th graders who do "Change the World" community service. They greet volunteers coming in with filled bags and trash, sign them onto our checklist to track helpers, unload vehicles, toss everything in the right spot, and thank everyone. It's fun and goes quickly.
You get the idea - there's lots to do!
Email to jump in. Waterbury is going to be soooooo clean!
