Tonight!  PTO-sponsored Internet Safety Parent Night, with WDSD Technology Coordinator Eric Hall.  Join us in the CBMS Trish Feld Library for this enlightening session, beginning at 6PM.

Please take a minute to check your child's lunch bill on PowerSchool, and make every effort to get the balance in the plus range by sending in a check as needed.

Winter Carnival at CBMS is tomorrow (Friday).  Because of the dicey weather forecast, we will be taking a bus to the Ice Center, and all other events will be held inside the CBMS building.  Remember to send your child in with his/her skates or $3 to rent skates, and appropriate dress for skating.

Grades 5/6 Basketball Tournament this Saturday!  The Crossett Brook 5/6 Boys Basketball teams are hosting a tournament to raise funds for the trip to Ferry Beach.  The tournament will be held at the CBMS Gym starting at 9:00AM on Saturday, February 25th.  Come cheer on the CBMS teams!

Spring Parent Conferences are coming on Wednesday, March 14th and Thursday, March 15th, after school and into the evening each day. Sign-ups will be again done via the Internet, beginning Saturday, March 3rd through Saturday March 10th.  The link to sign up for conferences can be found on the CBMS Homepage.

May your February Breaks be special!  Note that the CBMS office will be open next week during normal business hours.   Students are due back to school at 7:45AM on Wednesday, March 7th.

Lots of Spirit at CBMS this week, including "Red, White, and Blue" day on Tuesday (clothes to match the colors), "Summer Wear" day on Wednesday (no bathing suits, please!), and "Pajama Day" on Thursday!  Friday is Winter Carnival Day, and we will definitely be going skating (although the rain in the forecast may force other events inside).  Send your child into school on Friday with skates or $3 for skate rentals, and weather-appropriate clothing.  GO COUGARS!

CBMS Yearbook Notes
  • We want your photos! To make it easy to send them to us, we’ve created a link to a Photo Dropbox on the CBMS website, located right under the link to order your yearbook. Just click on it, enter password “cougars” and remember to name the photofile so that we don’t see just a camera file name. We’ve discovered that if Dropbox sees any photo files with the same name, it will replace that photo with the latest photo.
  • If you have many photos to pass to us, consider bringing the memory card to Tom Matt, yearbook advisor, and he will upload it and return it the next day.
  • Please order your yearbook soon as Friday, 2/24 is the last day to order a yearbook at the $25/each price. After Friday, the price will be $30/each.
  • When ordering your own yearbook, we are also offering the option to purchase an additional yearbook to donate to Irene flood victims; we’ve made it easy with a box to check on either the online or paper form.

Looking for Laptops- We are looking to obtain laptops for the Lego robotics enrichment activities at both CBMS and TBPS.  Laptops will allow the robotics program to be independent of the school network and computers, which do not easily support the robotics software. Perhaps you or your business recently upgraded a laptop and you were wondering what to do with your old one. We can use most any working windows based laptop with an AC adaptor. Laptops with your contact information can be dropped off at either CBMS or TBPS main offices to the attention of Mike Maloney. Or you can contact Mike Maloney (vtwood@comcast.net 244-7720) to arrange pick up. Please consider donating an unused but, working laptop. Thank you!

Early Release Day this Wednesday!

Velocity for Boys @ CBMS! Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont is proud to announce that Velocity is coming to CBMS this Spring! The goals of the overall program are:
  •  To encourage a healthy, active lifestyle for Middle School boys.
  • To give boys an opportunity to try new fitness activities in a non-competitive, boys-only setting
  • To help boys build confidence and communication skills, as they bond with mentors and other participants
By creating six different activity modules, each with a corresponding lesson, we will give boys a chance to try out an activity without making a major commitment to it. Past activities include mountain biking, break-dancing, fencing, ropes course adventures, frisbee golf, orienteering, hiking and we’re always looking for new activities.  It is our goal to help each boy find at least one activity he really enjoys, and continue with it, remaining active in the future.
This year, we are offering Velocity at eight Vermont schools, including CBMS. Attached you will find a permission form for the overall program, which requests permission regarding transportation to various sites, a photo release, and some emergency contact information.

The program will tentatively run on Thursdays from 2:30-4:30, beginning April 12th and running through May 24th. The program costs $60 per child, and some scholarship money may be available upon request.  Checks should be made to "Velocity BCBSVT", and sent with the permission slip to the CBMS office. Contact Dan Gratton, the CBMS Velocity coordinator, to learn more….dgratton@wdsdvt.net or 244-6100 x122.   This program is limited to 20 participants, on a first-come/first served basis.  Velocity permission slip can be accessed by clicking here
