School preparedness- Please note that TBPS and CBMS have comprehensive school preparedness plans, based on the State of Vermont guidelines.  These guidelines can be found by clicking here.  The events on Friday in Newtown, CT provide a stark reminder as to why it is vital for us to continually refresh our school preparedness plan and to always keep safety of all types as a huge priority for our students and staff.

Use of AlertNow for school delays/closings/emergencies - please note that we use both phone and e-mail when a delay or closing has been determined, or if there is a school emergency that needs to be communicated.  If a delay is called, school will begin 90 minutes late, with AG beginning at 9:15AM.

Message from TBPS Principal Don Schneider: Last week at the Waterbury-Duxbury School Board meeting, I handed in my letter of resignation as principal of Thatcher Brook Primary School at the conclusion of this school year, effective June 30th, 2013. It has been an honor and a privilege to be part of this school community for the past 12 years. I am proud to have been one of many key players over this time that has brought many positive changes to our school. I feel that change is a necessary part of what keeps a school moving forward, and also for me as a professional, and I know that time is now. I will miss the daily interaction with students, parents, and staff members of this wonderful and supportive school community at the conclusion of my final year as principal of TBPS.

Tomorrow Night!  PTO INTERNET SAFETY NIGHT FOR PARENTS  As our children transition into the Middle School years they are more active on the Internet.  Whether it be researching information for school, participating in fantasy sports games, or participating on social networking sites, our children are becoming more and more familiar with the world outside our communities.  As parents we have concerns on how to protect our children from the dangers that are ever present right at their finger tips.  During this workshop, Troy Morton a parent of a CBMS 5th grader and an IT profession will provide parents with tips on:
