WWSU Grades 5 & 6 Spelling Bee @ CBMS on Tuesday, October 6th.  Come cheer on the defending champion Cougars!  8:30AM in the CBMS Cougar Cafetorium.  

Schoology @ CBMS- What is Schoology?  In short, and from the classroom end, it is like PowerSchool on steroids!  Information on how to access the Parent Portal on Schoology was e-mailed out earlier this week.  If you did not receive it, e-mail Tom Drake (  A good 4-minute intro movie to the Parent Portal can be found on this link.  

Tonight!  5/6 grade Halloween themed Fun Night 7-9 pm- Come dance with ghouls, aliens and celebrities and play ping pong with goblins, wild animals and superheros. This early Halloween party will be a chance for your student to try out his/her costume, or be someone new. School dress code will be in affect: shirts and shoes required, no revealing clothing. Permission Forms - E-form can be found here) MUST be filled out and signed by a parent/guardian or your child will not be able to participate until we have confirmation from you. Adults coming to pick up students at the end of Fun Night MUST come into the school to sign them out. Admission Fee- Please have your child bring $5 to Fun Night to cover expenses.
Substance Use, Parenting and Teenagers talk sponsored by the CBMS PTOHow can we help our children avoid having problems with drugs and alcohol? If substance use does become a problem, how will we know and what should we do?  Come join Bert Klavens for a discussion about how to help your children develop healthy attitudes about substance use, and how to help them if problems do arise.  Bert Klavens, M.A. LADC is the Director of the Healthy Youth Program (HYP) a service of the Washington County Youth Service Bureau in Montpelier, Vermont. HYP serves youth 12-25 with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health issues and utilizes a Positive Youth Development, strength based treatment approach. Bert is a licensed addictions counselor, who has worked with youth, adults and families in Central Vermont for over 20 years. He is married with two adult children and a very large dog.

Inclement weather is coming... New this year to our delayed opening schedule is a 2-hour delayed start, which falls in line with the vast majority of Vermont Schools.  Superintendent Brigid Nease provides all the details in this letter.  Let it snow!

Intro to Lego Robotics Sign-Up Oct-Nov- This is a beginner class for students in grades 5-8, and is open to the first 10 students. Classes will take place on Tuesdays, Oct 27, Nov 3, 10 and 17 from 2:30-4PM. Please note that students will need a ride home at 4:00. After School Creative Writing with Ms. Cicchetti - In this after-school creative writing workshop we will focus on writing short stories! Students will have the opportunity to explore the elements of a short story while also finding a supportive place to explore their own work and that of others. We will focus on the elements of writing short stories that make for vivid, effective writing across genres. Participants will also share their writing and ideas and discuss them in a positive and constructive manner, and we will do all of this while making new connections within our school! Dates are: Thursdays, Oct 15, 22, 29, Nov 5, 12, and 19, 2015. Time is 2:30-3:00. Location: Room 210, Prodigy wing. Cost will be $30 for a 6 week session. Please make checks payable to "CBMS PTO".
