Oct 30

Ponderable:   I wish that every teenager had to take a course on how their brain works so that they would understand that they’re building their brain by what they do every day.”  Frances Jensen in “Secrets of the Teenage Brain” in Educational Leadership, October 2015 .  http://bit.ly/1O51fcd

A Friendly Reminder on Tardiness...classes begin promptly at 7:45AM.  Please take into account the time it takes for your child to transition from your car, to their locker, and to their first-block class.  In reality, dropping off at 7:40AM at the latest will get your child to class on time and give him or her the BEST opportunity to learn!

Help to keep your child safe online! The CBMS is bringing Technicool to CBMS on Thursday, November 5th, beginning at 6:30PM in the Trish Feld Library.  More info on this program can be found on this link.

Our annual PTO Winter Fundraiser is kicking off on 10/30, and running through 11/16.  Are you looking for a way to support your school and local businesses?  This is the place to come.  We have Wreaths and Poinsettias from Evergreen Gardens, Waterbury Bars from Laughing Moon Chocolate and Buy Local Discount books from Red Barn.  Every penny of the profits go directly to your student's team to support the activities that they have planned out.  Letters from each team with information about their needs will accompany the paperwork that comes home on Friday.  Please check the "black hole" known as the bottom of your child's backpack.  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to any of the PTO Board or you can contact me directly. Thanks for your support! Missy Semprebon- missy@calmontbeverage.com

Save the Date!  Student-Led Conferences will be happening for all students on Monday, November 23rd, with blocks available from 3-8PM.  The e-sign up window opens on November 12th, and details on how to sign up will be coming in next week's Cougar Comments.  Your learner is leading the conference, so be sure to bring him/her with you!

Got Schoology?  Accessing the parent portal is the best way to keep up with your learner's school work! A document outlining how to set up a Parent Schoology Account can be found at this link.  If you need help, e-mail Tom Drake at tdrake@wwsu.org

Thanks to everyone who has already donated!

Got Housing?  CBMS Staff Member Tom Matt had a house fire at his home on Blush Hill in Waterbury this past week.  His house will need to be gutted, and he is looking at being out of the house for 6 months.  He and his wife Deborah lost everything on the 2nd floor, including all of their clothes, and the first floor has lots of smoke and water damage.  They are currently renting a ski apartment in Waitsfield, and can be there through T'giving.  However, Tom would love to be in the W'bury-D'bury area for logistical reasons.  Deborah works at the senior home in Berlin and hates driving in the snow, so being in this area would help a lot.  If you know of any accommodation for the two of them, and their two dogs, please e-mail Tom at tmatt@wwsu.org
