#9 of the Top 10 Reasons for Moving to 1:1 Learning Technology- Implementing 1:1 access to technology addresses the key goal of equity in education. Outside of school there is a widening digital divide of those who have access to knowledge, data, and skills and those who do not. Access to digital tools is vital in providing all students with resources for success both in and after school. As author William Gibson said, “The future is already here. It’s just not evenly distributed.

Ponderable: “You don’t build strong readers by teaching children to ‘find the main idea,’ ‘make inferences,’ and ‘compare and contrast.’ You do it by fixing a child’s gaze on the world outside the classroom window.” from “ESEA and the Return of a Well-Rounded Curriculum” by Robert Pondiscio in The Education Gadfly, December 2, 2015.

News from our Nurse - All medications brought to school must be in their original labeled containers and given to Dona Culver or Corky Burton immediately upon the student's arrival. Over-the-counter medications must be accompanied by a CBMS medication form or a note from the parent. Prescription medications must have a physician's order plus parent permission (this includes inhalers). All narcotics and control drugs such as ADHD medications must be brought to school by a parent with the appropriate medical orders and permissions.  Students may not bring or carry any medications in their pockets or in unlabeled containers such as plastic bags.  A medication form can be accessed here.
