After School Creative Writing with Ms. Cicchetti 2016 In this after-school creative writing workshop we will focus on writing short stories! Students will have the opportunity to explore the elements of a short story while also finding a supportive place to explore their own work and that of others. We will focus on the elements of writing short stories that make for vivid, effective writing across genres. Participants will also share their writing and ideas and discuss them in a positive and constructive manner, and we will do all of this while making new connections within our school! Cost will be $30 for a 6 week session.
- Dates are: Thursdays - March 10, 17, 24, 31 and April 7 and 14th 2016.
- Time is 2:30-3 pm.
- Location: Room 210, Prodigy wing
The Waterbury Town School Board is seeking candidates to fill two open Waterbury school board seats. There is an opening on the Waterbury Town Board that only has one annual scheduled meeting and an opening on the Waterbury Duxbury School Board that meets the second Tuesday of every month during the school year. Both vacancies are filling empty seats and expire on the next Town Meeting day. If you would consider stepping up to help your community—and learn more about our schools in the process—please share your interest by March 17th via email to Reed McCracken at email@example.com
Support the CBMS Greenhouse Fund by purchasing a community cookbook (created by Sustainability students) called Sustain-Edible School! The cookbook contains over 60 tried and true recipes submitted by staff, students, parents and community members with a focus on local and Harvest of the Month ingredients. They are on sale now for a suggested donation of $17.00. All proceeds go towards phase 1 of greenhouse construction beginning this spring! Cookbooks can be purchased at school by contacting Sarah Popowicz at firstname.lastname@example.org, and will also be sold at various community events within the next few months. Thanks for your support!Registration Information: Heart and Sole @ Crossett Brook Middle School This spring, CBMS will offer “Heart and Sole”, a program geared specifically toward middle school girls. This is a fun, social and emotional development program through running. Lessons are facilitated by trained coaches to safely prepare girls to complete a celebratory 5k run. The program will begin the week of March 21st and end the week of June 6th. The annual 5k celebration run will be held in Essex at the Champlain Valley Fair on Saturday, June 4th. This year CBMS will have up to 30 spots for girls in grades 5 - 8 in two distinct groups. Registration options will be: Group A) M/W 2:30 – 4:00pm and Group B) T/TH 2:30 – 4:00pm. Girls must register for both days of the same group. Registration is online only. It opens here at 7pm on March 3rd, on a first come first served basis. We anticipate the program to fill quickly and are looking for girls committed to participating in the 10 week program. Total program cost will be $28.00 per girl. Scholarships are available as needed. Thanks to the CBMS PTO and Girls on the Run for their generous support to reduce the fee from $80.00. If you have questions regarding registration, contact Sarah Popowicz at email@example.com or 244-6100.
