Girls on the Run's new middle school program, Heart & Sole, is hopefully returning to CBMS but we need COACHES and volunteers to help get the program started this year!   The 10-week Heart & Sole curriculum is filled with activities to support the emotional and physical health of the participants with a 5k event culminating event held in June. Heart and Sole is a spring program that starts at the end of March and runs through the first week of June. Sessions meet twice a week for 90 minutes each. You do not need to have running experience to coach. Coaches can commit to either one or two sessions a week. Please email Melinda Anderman at if you are interested in coaching.

Ponderable:  “Work on [a new social compact] has to start with every school teaching children digital civics. And that begins with teaching them that the Internet is an open sewer of untreated, unfiltered information, where they need to bring skepticism and critical thinking to everything they read and basic civic decency to everything they write.”   Thomas Friedman in “Online and Scared” in The New York Times, January 11, 2017.  Full article is here.
