June 15

Simply some timely reminders as the 16/17 school year heads to the finish line:
  • 8th Grade Recognition Assembly at 1pm today.  All are welcome to attend!
  • 8th Grade Graduation at 5PM today in the CBMS gymnasium.  All are welcome to attend!
  • Friday- Great Escape Trip for graduates departs CBMS at 7AM, and returns at 6:30PM.
  • Friday- 5th, 6th, and 7th graders will be heading to the CBMS pool and surrounding basketball court, tennis court, baseball field, and playground.  We will be walking or biking, and swimming is encouraged but of course optional.  Please help your child wear appropriate clothes for the day.  Dismissal is at noon, with buses rolling out at 12:05.  We do have a rain plan that keeps us at school in the case inclement weather.  Please send your child to school with the pool trip planned, but with a flexible attitude!
  • Yearbooks- we still have a few for sale.  $30 each, and checks can be made out to "CBMS."
  • Lunch Bills- it would be great if you could erase any negative balances by making a year-end deposit.  The office will be open next week, and throughout the summer, if you want to send in/drop off a check.
  • Lost and Found- it is now out on tables in the front hallway.  Urge your child to visit it, or come yourself and take home anything that has been lost...and found!
  • CBMS Staff leaving/changing roles at the end of this school year:
    • Bud Towndrow, Maintenance Director, is retiring in mid-August after 13 years in the district.  We are in the process of hiring for this position.
    • Donna Constant, paraeducator on Team Dream, is retiring after 21 years in the district.
    • David Emberley, special educator on Team Prodigy, is leaving CBMS and going to work for the AOE in Maine.  David Spaulding has been hired to fill this position, and he is joining us from Colorado.
    • Liza Commo, paraeducator on Team Wizards,  is leaving CBMS to pursue other career options after earning her BA this Spring.
    • Gabriel Ely, Spanish teacher, is leaving CBMS to pursue other career options.  Kelsey Burnell has been hired to teach Spanish next year.
    • Susan Simpson, ELL teacher, is moving on to Chittenden South Supervisory Union. We are in the process of filling this SU wide vacancy.
